turbo brake backing plates needed

Well the cover mostly has holes in it anyway and when I removed mine when installing the BB's my abs sensor and gear was caked in crud anyway. I was a bit perplexed at first after removing it thinking "Porsche put it there for a reason" and was contemplating getting 928GTS ones to re-install, but i've had no detrimental effects for it not being there whatsoever. Seriously I wouldn't bother, unless you were taking your hub apart anyway.
 
FWIW, when I took off the disc/hub/caliper assembly to fit brackets for brake ducts I found the backing plate would not work well with the brackets as they are not perfectly flat. So I took away the ABS sensor dust cover from the backing plate and reused it over the brake duct bracket.

For sure some flow from the duct is lost, but still I find that better than using no dust cover at all.
