A 964 Turbo Cab has turned up at my local dealer for sale and this prompted a discussion on how many (in total and RHD) were made.... anyone got any ideas? [8|]

A genuine 964 turbo cab...
If it is a 964 you are talking about... and is a actual genuine factory turbo, not turbo body then its a very rare bird indeed. My information is that htere were just 4 rhd 964 turbo cabs made. One is on my website, a black car, built in 93 (in theory it therefore should be a 3.6) but a 3.3 built by the Porsche works at 100k+ for a vip customer. The one on my site had done 1000or so miles and been in storage. I f you look carefully it had 'RS' style rear bumper and a few other odd things. It was with a wholesaler friend down here in Devon briefly.www.performance2and4.co.uk/911spec_3_n.htm. Adrian Crawford.[;)]

Thanks for the info - wish I had got a photo now as it appears to have been sold! [:(]

It was apparently a genuine factory car. Our local dealer had Porsche reps over recently and it surprised them - they did not realise they had ever made any! It was Arena Red (or something similar).

I think it was sold locally so should run into it again sometime.

PS to my previous message - the dealer thought it was a 3.3 too, but it turned out to be a 3.6 [8|]

I have read that there were 250 in total made. Various numbers of RHD I have seen a figure of 21 and 9 so who knows. I had a black met with magenta full leather interior, it went to US but is now back in the uk. I know of about 10 cars in the uk that I have seen. Recently a friend of mine was in Jersy and saw a Wide body turbo Cab with a turbo 3.3 engine. It had done 4000 miles and was as new. Owned by a collector it was making way for a 996 turbo cab. It was a so called special order car. Asking price was £36,000.00
My cars wheels were stamped 965 SL Made in Italy (speedline?) They were called roadsters in the US.

Juist read my reply and the numbers made I was refering to were for Turbo Look Cabs.(standard engine) The one in Jersy was wide body.

Interesting - this sounds like the same car (although now in Guernsey). the new owner is indeed awaiting a 996 Turbo Cab.

The dealer thought it was a 3.3 but found it to be a 3.6; but it did also have some odd bits like different cam covers and non-turbo brakes.

I could have been wrong about the size of the motor - maybe it was that "3.6 "should have been the spec... should have paid more attention [;)]

They were quite specific though that the brakes were not "Turbo spec"; this had led to some speculation that it was not a factory build but this has since been proven.

Interesting car... apparently it went to a good home. Hope it went to a PCGB member!
