Turbo cooling fan

My turbo cooling fan doesn't seem to come on everytime I switch off the engine or maybe it never has and I am mistaking it for the engine cooling fan, I believe this is a bad thing, is it an easy fix???

The turbo cooling pump should run for 30 seconds after you switch off. You will hear a quiet whirring and see some bubbling of water in your coolant tank. It is to cool down the hot turbo after a run and extend its life. Its not life threatening if it has failed (in fact it is common), but allow the car to idle for a few seconds after every run until you get it fixed. Its probably just the sensor has failed.

The engine fans will also run on if the car is very hot when you switch off. They are behind the radiator and totally seperate to the turbo pump

If the sensor / fan is broken the temp guage will rise to the red if you are idling for a long time. Usually the guage will get up to 2/3 the fans will cut in and rop the needle back down.

The turbo cooling pump can be made to run by gounding the temp sensor connector (black wire near the turbo going into a cylindrical plug) or by turning off the ignition as Paul said it should then run for 20 to 30 secs.

I think the fan is fine as that cuts in, although I think the thermostat needs replacing as it very rarely gets that hot. I will try grounding the the turbo pump sensor. Cheers
