Turbo Cooling Pump

When switching off the car (after a couple of minutes at idle of course) the pump has randomly either been running or not - mostly not recently. I guessed this was because it was thermostatically controlled and hence the random nature, but on Clarks Garage it states that the pump should always run for 30 seconds or so after switch-off.

Can anyone confirm what should be happening please. (Sure there was some reference to this a little while back, but I can't find anything after extensive searchies).
