Having done some searching in this forum, I am trying to locate a fault with the electric cooling pump which feeds the turbo. From what I can gather there are four components which can fail;
a. relay
b. temperature sensor
c. the pump
d. wiring
Not knowing how the circuit comes active, can someone explain how the system works? Does turning on/off the ignition activate the pump, so it runs for 30 secs or does the engine need to reach its ambient temperature? I read one post that earthing the sensor lead has the same effect?
I suppose the final option (might be the easiest) would be to hot wire the pump.
And finally, OPC have quoted about £150 notes to replace the pump (which seems suspiciously like the cost of the main coolant pump). Does this sound like the correct price? Is there also a PET guide for 944 turbo's - I could not find one in the general discussion forum? Thanks
