turbo fuel read out

turbo would not start yesterday-called out break down
they checked fuel pump-run out fuel, although computer read out 57miles showing on dash

I think there are several previous threads commenting on the (un)reliability of the computer/fuel gauge with low quantities of fuel?
 
The Turbo will have the odd-shaped tank that fits around the 4WD components. Computer has very little chance of being accurate.

Were you parked on a slope?

Yup that was on Chris's thread a good few months back.

No, although all the info is there, I think I posted the same info on Chris's thread as he had the same problem.....

The best, I've ran out of fuel thread we've ever had...
In fact the only one I can remember :ROFLMAO:

Mind you I will admit I ran out of fuel in my van once, the gauge was on 1/4 tank and as the engine stopped the needle just dropped to empty!!

What did the mechanic say/do Chris ?

it gets worst same day out with the other half driving her x5 kerbed front wheel (even bigger plonker[:mad:]} cant make up any excuse with other half on board (life goes on)

Totally agree, this is the worst you can do, I know what my Mrs would do to me [:eek:][:eek:]
Mind you I'd still be gutted even more so if it was a wheel like ours!! [:(]

Well I hope number 3 wasn't forgetting what day it is today or curbing the X5 might be the least of his worries.[&:][:D]
 
update car been in opc since monday-part ordered for fuel read out-also opc found slight leak on clutch reservior
should have car back friday

Chris, let me know the details of the faults and recourse so that I can put it in the warranty thread if you would please.

hi gary

picked up car today

fuel tank sender unit replaced
fuel system calibrated
clutch slave cylinder & release valve replaced

on another subject wicked wheels coming on tuesday to take front wheel away to repair scuff
