Turbo misfire/hesitation

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help ! I have a 996 Turbo which has a kind of misfire (I guess). It is most noticable on the motorway at constant speeds, it's almost as if the engine is cutting out for a split second !!

Any ideas what might cause it ?

Welcome Jay!

Without getting a diagnostic check done you are shooting in the dark. Could be any number of things - coil packs, ignition switch, flywheel/cam position sensor, plugs..........

If you are anywhere near me (Maidenhead, Berks) I'd be happy to do a check, otherwise there are lots of independent Porsche specialists around the country, and I'm sure the first thing they would want to do is plug in the computer.

Thanks Richard, that's quite a list of possibilities ! Are you in the motor trade or have you managed to get hold of some diagnostic code reading equipment ?

No, not in the trade, just an enthusiastic anorak with some diagnostic equipment.

If it feels like a hesitation or surging as you drive along it could be an exhaust sensor but you will still need to plug the computer in to see which one(s).
