Turbo Plumbing Question

Evening All

Quick question for turbo owners. Where does the banjo bolt/pipe route to that is on the left side hard pipe? I presently have the banjo bolt and pipe in situ, but only about 3 inches of pipe, then what looks like it should be connected to a vac pipe, is missing. There is a jubilee clip on the end of the open pipe which looks like it used to hold a vac pipe in place. Ive had a quick root about in poor light and not found the culprit. Pretty sure something should be connected to it as the hard pipe is currently venting to air. The cycling valve is disconnected and has been for some time but i'm certain this should not be an open pipe! Car currently not running which doesn't help diagnosis. Having fuel pipes replaced.

I checked PET but it wasn't obvious where the pipe should go to. Hopefully when I get a bit more time I'll find a disconnected vac pipe. It can't have gone far can it?

It normally goes to the hard pipes and ultimately to the overboost unit. If your car is modded you probably no longer have this function, hence why it is chopped, the rubber portion sealed and then generally gets routed to your DPW and also to boost gauges etc.
 
Thanks Rob. So it should either be blanked off, which it currently isn't, or probably goes straight to the DPW or MBC, which I think is more likely? So I currently have a boost leak until I blank it or reconnect it?

I'll try and get one tonight Thom. I'm pretty sure something has come loose. It's either been blanked or it leads to the DPW or MBC and I'm fairly sure it should be connected to a pipe as I remember bolting and unbolting it numerous times when I was messing about with AFM's and MAF's a wee while back when I soaked my MAF sensor in a giant puddle!

From memory, if the cycling valve is gone, the line from the banjo bolt goes to the wastegate control line, with an MBC somwhere in between. The other line, which normally goes between the J-boot and the cycling valve, is normally left unused, and there should be a plug in the J-boot.
 
Correct! It was the line to the MBC. Found it quite easily in daylight today. Shouldn't have been overly difficult as the line is bright blue! Anyway all reconnected, thanks chaps!

Yes Rob cheers. I'm wondering if it could have been unplugged for a while. Certainly felt perkier with it plugged in and a new fuel filter installed. Maybe just placebo effect! However it may have ran but with a slight boost leak, but not sure it would have idled right, which it did. I know if you blow a vac line off the inlet manifold it doesn't idle. Been there. Not sure an air leak on the boost pipe would be so catastrophic. Could always unplug it again and find out!!
