Turbo rear track

Does a Turbo achieve its wider rear track with different rear suspension parts or just by the wheels, or both. I noticed that they look so much better than a non Turbo with nice filled arches and would like to get the same result. I am wanting to change my D90s and don't want to get it wrong.[&:]. Or is it the case that you guys have modified this area in some way by spacers etc. Not a big fan of spacers!!!.
 
the later turbos ('88 'S' and '89-on) just have wider rims as standard but still don't fill the arches. A 15mm bolt-on spacer would probably achieve what you're looking for but bear in mind a couple of points:

Turbo shells have rolled arches; you may need to do this.
Widening the rear track only will increase understeer/reduce oversteer, and lowering the rear will increase the rate at which it breaks away, making it harder to catch. If you lower the car keeping the nose lower than the rear will help this.
Widening the front track will make the steering more twitchy, particularly under braking.
imo stancing the car may look good but without a lot of other tweaks you'll potentially turn a fine handling sportscar into a snappy bitch [;)]
 
Adding to what Malc has said above, your car has exactly the same rear semi trailing arms as my Turbo, and Malcs 1989. Your car came with 7" ET52.3 rear wheels, mine came with 8" rears and Malcs with 9" rears.
 
Its a very good point, that what looks smart and what drives well are not always the same thing.
 
My 88 car (Turbo S) runs 18mm hubcentic spacers on the rear and has been taken down about 20 mm on the rear arms, front runs 7mm shims and is dropped accordingly in relation to the rear (MO30) absolutely no issues, 7.5 J front & 9 j rear Cup 1's.

It has cuased no handling issues whatsover, it also is fitted with a strut brace and various nylon bushes, feels sharp and responsive with no silly behaviour.

I have taken the 220 car down on the rear and the sills are now level when measured with a spirit level 15 mm Porsche 951 rear hubcentric spacers along with 7mm front shims on 7 x 8j turbo teledials looks lovely and again no handling issues.

Admittedly the steering is not as sharp and they can tramline on some surfaces, but the look in my opinion offsets this by far.
 
Your spec is pretty similar to mine Frenchy. I have KWs, 15mm spacers on the front (albeit my front rims have a 65mm offset so they were fitted to move the steering axis inboard of the tyre centreline), 968 castor mounts, polybushes on the anti-roll bars & fairly aggressive geometry. I didn't do any of it to make the car look better.

I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying it's easy to be disappointed with a change to an already well balanced car.
