Turbo Repair Recommendations Please

I have after a great struggle managed to remove my smoking turbo, recommendations of where to send it for service would be gratefully received.

Turbo Dynamics in Bournemouth did a fantactic job on mine last month. If I didn't know better I'd think they binned it and sent me a brand new one.

Call and ask for Tom - I had it machined out, all new CHRA fitted with upgraded bearings and billet wheels. Just over £500 including a courier both ways - about £300 for a straight rebuild.

I had mine done many years ago by Turbo Technics in Northampton - good service and not too expensive

ingested......first the burnt exhaust valve on number 4 when she ran lean and second when she decided to eat the supposedly bonded filter in the Piper venom cold air intake system...

like for like Paul, I have never found the LR 61 wanting, even if it is a little 'old school' now

Does anyone have a turbo down pipe kicking around their garage that has good studs to sell please [:)]

Hi John

Yes, I do have a turbo downpipe off my 86, looks in good condition, it has one stud missing which came out when removed. Personally, I'd remove the other two too and replace for new as the studs are showing their age and if reusing them they may not be so willing to undo next time around but would probably do up ok if left. It's a very hostile environment in this area as you know. Also, it will need a new crush seal but this is a standard replacement item that would have to be changed anyway. I had a quick look on eBay, the cheapest that I could find was iirc £35, if it's what you want you're welcome to it for £25. I'm useless at posting things, hate the post office so if not too far away would be happy to meet.
Anyway, I took two pictures to help you decide....

Thanks for the offer Pete, it looks to be in similar condition to mine, I was looking at the lazy way out, not having to replace the studs, I know I should replace mine, thanks for shaming me into it.

no prob John..sorry I thought that one of your studs was sheared hence why I suggested it...good luck with getting it sorted sir..
