turbo S arrival

Oh, and they had an S they hadn't sold which I could have if I asked nicely.
Well they seem like nice chaps and the coffee is good, so I felt it would be rude not to.
Picked up the car yesterday and thought I ought to inform the powers that be on the 997 forum.
I decided to stick with the S signature of RS wheels and two tone interior. So it is Meteor with Black/Titanium Blue leather. Looks quite good I think. The standard spec is pretty comprehensive so I just added rear wiper, plus age related option of heating to the adaptive sports seats.
It is obviously early days, but how does it compare to the Gen 2 turbo? Well so far I would have to say that in normal road driving I think you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. I believe in a bit of mechanical sympathy during the first miles so it is not really possible to explore the benefits of continuous boost and 530 bhp. The boost gauge is calibrated to 1.2 bar with 0.6 in the middle. Under acceleration it seems to give a little puff of 0.6 then go back to sleep more or less straight away, but having launched the car down the road at a ferocious rate. It is difficult to imagine circumstances where sustained 1.2 bar would ever be required. Perhaps towing a caravan up Pikes Peak.
Everything else is very like the Gen 2. Exhaust note is similar; ride about the same, handling seems identical. So the only difference is that it is a bit cheaper than the standard car (if the latter is specced to S levels)
By the way I love it!
Hi Lowndes, Thanks for the ok on the white. Somehow this 'S' had to be different. I didn't have a rear wiper on the previous turbos & it didn't occur to me to specify it. I put rainX on the rear window last times and it helped, a bit. PDK will be a bit of an experience. GregORIGINAL: lowndes Hi Greg, Sounds lovely. I had a 930 in Carrera white many moons ago, it is a very classy and classic turbo colour. And I think you will like the black/blue leather interior. They take a bit of trouble and run contrast blue stitching along the tops of doors and dash which is a nice touch. I have yet to fiddle with all of the seat adjustments but find them very comfortable. You don't mention rear wiper. It is no longer standard and not a NCO but in my view makes sense even if it does add some additional weight! I think you will quite like PDK. I have never owned an automatic car until these Gen 2 turbos but am sold on PDK August and September will seem long months! But well worth the wait.
