Not much sleep last night but doing very well thanks. Little Jake is the cutest thing in the entire world so I am very smitten. Still managing to go out for a Porsche drive on coming Sat though so not completely lost my social life []

Hi Alex,
You would do me a huge favour by telling Judy this the next time you see her. []
Congratulations on little Jake. When did he arrive?

Have the use of an R8 V10 spyder this week courtesy of my car club and nice car but can't see me owning one. Its not as raw as the Gallrdo which you can understand from a marketing point of view, so begs the question why would you want one. I had the Gallardo 560-4 again all last weekend and its an easy choice still as to my favourite, second close behind being the GT3 that the club has.
Each time I go back to the turbo though, so will drive that to work tomorrow instead
Was at Mercedes world today and the SLS AMG there looks in the flesh like a baby Maclaren, looking forward to driving that one and the 458 in a few weeks time.
After that I have run out of choices to even try that might be more interesting than the turbo s, so head is syaing just get the s you wont regret it
Lovely problem to have though

You need to make sure you have your copy of EVO this month..
I also read that the first deliveries of the 458 are coming into the country [8D]

Any comments............[8|]
Also one senses a degree of built in bias. At £157k the SLS price is midway, whereas the S at £123k is heady!
Pity the S had it's performance blunted by wearing heavy standard wheels (no cost option) rather than the lighter Spyders that come as standard!
Heh ho!

Though it is not bad entertainment, ISTM there is not much in the Evo reviews that would help someone who might actually be thinking of buying one of these cars. How often do owners have all four wheels off the ground (see pic of Audi and S). Fine in someone else's motor but in your own P&J?
Nick,
You've clearly not been on many of Gary W's runs! []
All this "lack of involvement" is journo-speak, when they can't find anything much to criticise. [8|]
The Turbo 'S' is without doubt a very fine, quick motor car, which it will be real pleasure to own.
What spec. did you eventually decide on?

could also account for the numb steering feel reported by Evo

Indeed I haven't so thanks for the warning! Must make sure I am busy when the next one is posted.
The car is pretty much standard, about the only extra I can think of off hand is heated seats- they are an age related requirement!
Does this Chris Harris video sum it up?
http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetevovideos/246160/porsche_911_turbo.html
I think they could make the Turbo a bit more of a sports car via options for those of us who wanted that sporty noise/feel withut spoiling the mile eating capability of the car but Porsche wont listen. Still a greeat car though.
Of course I am not in any way biased but contrast this video by Chirs Harris with the Turbo

Although I loved my Turbo I dont think it will be the complete car until they make it more involving to drive. Sharper handling and more noise.
Hence mod'ing is so appealing for the Turbo as then you get everything []

Is not the sports orientated 2wd turbo segment of the market occupied by the GT2? or perhaps the GT2RS!
Personally I think they have the turbo exactly right. Its comfortable, reassuring and quite fast. And it is all of those things, in all weathers, on all roads, always.
