Turbo Update

Hello all. Thought I'd give you an uopdate on my current turbo dilema. I managed to get a turbo from Lyndsey Racing, which to my surprise arrived from Oklahoma City in just two days. Though I'd get stuck in this weekend at work as there was nothing else to do and at first all went swimmingly. Gradually bits of my engine, intake manifold etc migrated from my car to my workshop floor until I finally got to the turbo.

Problems started when I attempted to remove the 21 year welded and rusted exhaust bolts from the exhaust inlet and outlet pipes to the turbo. A whole day of work later and I was still no closer to removing the bolts - BUGGER!!! The only option I am left with now is to hack through the crossover pipe and the outlet pipe where they enter and leave the turbo. Obviously I have sourced replacements before I do this from Douglas Valley. Can't believe it how can two second hand exhaust bits cost nearly £300 by the time the nasty VAT has been added!!

A lesson to everyone make sure you know where every bolt is before refitting your air cleaner housing back to you car. A schoolboy error has cost me nearly £700!!!!

Still on a llighter note at least I managed to get my belts done today whilst waiting for bits. Not that diffcult at all once you get into it and finally figure out what the f**k you are doing LOL. I am aiming for the car to be running again by the weeknd then I can start playing with my boost controller and new wastegate - AT LAST!!!!!!
 
£178 + VAT for the crossover pipe and £100 + VAT for the turbo outlet pipe. I told him he may as well have shoved a gun in my face but they have them now and I need them now!!! Need to get the car back on the road and off the jacks. The bus is no fun and some of the people on there smell of wee I think.
 
LOL there have been times over the last few days that I have been well tempted I can tell you. But my love affair remains strong ha ha. She will live again stronger and better!!!!
 
Your car and your money so it's up to you how you modify it but after years of chasing more power from cars I'm now convinced that the suspension is the place to start.
 
+1 Pauly. Decent suspension allows you to exploit the power you've already got rather than the alternative which is buying power you can't use.
 
Ok guys give me a chance here. I am starting with a completely stock car and working from there. I am sure the suspension will be on my list to do in the future but recent evnts and bills mean it's on hold for now until the modification kitty gets a bit fatter again!!! Until then I am sure I will get plenty of smiles out of what I have. LOL I am not a teenager and I don't wear burberry. I want the car to be good as well as fast. I am sure it will get there.
 
Any news on that AFR mate. I will probably have to dip into my overdraft for it but well worth it I think!! Oh and by the way I think I must now hold a new world record. 4 days to remove a 21 year old turbo. Well I say remove I mean hack it out with a junior hacksaw. You know how much room there isn't in there and you know I aint joking!!! All new stuff going in tomorrow - praise be be to DR Ferdinand Posche!!!
