Turbo valuation

I've had an enquiry for a valuation as follows;

Very unfortunate situation, as the prospective seller's son died 6 years ago. Since then the car has been MOT'd, taxed, insured and put back into the garage, covering about 1K in the 6 years.

944 Turbo, 1989, 92,000 miles.

Light blue metallic, linen leather, air-con works (but I'd check this!)

Has CD, new tyres and exhaust. £2300 spent on service that is thought to have covered all belts etc. but it was 6 years ago.

Car is in Warrington.

Before it goes up for sale the owner would appreciate a guide price. If anyone is interested in the car, I'll forward details on if you give me a call.

I'd agree that that was generous. Belts age, and at six years are three years overdue a change.

944's seem to be less appreciative of sitting idle than some cars, so there may be other issues as well. As result any buyer would have to set aside £2k for latent defects so I'd suggest £6K at top whack.

There was a time when 944 Turbos were good value for money in £/bhp, but as more and more modern cars become as powerful, if not more so, 200+bhp cars are no where as rare as they used to be. With an increase in choice comes a decrease in value.

You might well be right. Any less than that and I might be tempted myself as a sort of "before and after" thing. It wouldn't matter to me that it hasn't gone anywhere for 6 years as I'm working from home and don't get a chance to drive the 3 cars I've already got nearly enough, so it could just sit around with me like it's been doing with the current owner.
