Turbo with lsd gearbox oil

I have the joy of changing my clutch in my 1990 944 turbo this weekend. I have read lots of threads about box oil but am still unsure of the correct one for my car. I was told its best not to use fully synth as it has an lsd but was not sure. Any recommendations?

You need an API GL5 spec 75w-90, semi or full synthetic. Synthetic is the better choice.

Dont worry about the lsd, as it is fed from the gearbox and a good quality GL5 oil will be just fine.

75W90 is too thin.
I have used Castrol SAF-XJ 75W140 for many years and am very pleased with it.

Another recommendation for Castrol SAF-XJ 75w-140 - I haven't put it in my gearbox yet (see thread below) but comes highly recommended by other RS owners with similar set-up of synchro gearbox + LSD. Recommended by Manthey, Porsche AG, trusted independent specialists, club members, etc.

Buy it from Opie Oils for the great price and service. If you're a member of Porsche Club you'll get it even cheaper - 15% members discount + extra 15% off in May. www.opieoils.co.uk

Turning this into a typical oil thread, wouldn't 75w140 be a bit thick if a car is mainly used on the road?

Fair enough if the car is heavilly used on track, but for anything else, surely 75w90 would be fine?

Both my 944s are road cars, haven't found the viscosity to be excessive at all.
