Turbo Woooosh

I have replaced the OE wastegate for a Tial F38 and fitted a new cycling valve, running in single port mode. Road tested yesterday and found that when the turbo makes boost there is a Woooosh sound from somewhere, is this right or have I done something wrong?[8|]

I appear to be making full boost, I think its the sound of my Tial opening and closing.
I'm making full boost plus so can't complain but would like half a dozen or so turbo owner to say " mine does that with a Tial" otherwise, it just me and you in a select club [8D]

My Tial F38 doesn't seem to make that sort of sound, also have never heard it on other cars, for what it's worth.

I haven't had any time this weekend to investigate, hopefully I can find some time over Easter. Please keep your suggestion coming as they are all very helpful [:)]

I have resurrected this thread because I am still puzzled as to why my car makes this noise, well me and 944Scott, I cannot find any leaks. JM any ideas please.

Mine has Tial i can hear a slight turbo spool up noise but no Whoosh, you are aware that the ports work opposite to the Promax / Lyndsey units ?

The only thing the term whoosh makes me think of is a boost leak somewhere before the inlet manifold... It sounds like compressed air escapes from somewhere.

I tend to agree I had this on a fouled gasket after fitting an after mkt exhaust to a 911 Turbo

I had her in for MOT this morning, (Pass No Advisories [:D][:D][:D]), while waiting for VOSA to do its computer thing I had a chat with the tester, he suggested it could be a leak around the intercooler maybe a hose or something so that is the next place to look. Please keep your suggestion coming [:)]

Sorry I asked what level of boost you were running because I have recently increased mine and the noise has gone away.

My red T makes a chirruppy noisy and a noise that sounds like a Darth Vader breathing out, accompanied by pops from the exhaust. When i drive my Vanilla Turbo now its just too quiet!

Great description Mark [:)] yes mine sounds like Darth Vader breathing out or could be breathing in?[8|]

How are you reading boost? My car will make boost. With a slight leak it will ether read lower or take more revs. At 0.8 it's possible for me to get that boost with a ic hose slightly loose. When there is a leak like that I can hear it from inside the car.
