Turn off Daylight Running Light son 2008 Cayman S Sport?

Isn't it one of the settings on the On Board Computer? Should be in the Owner's Handbook. It was in my 2009.

It's done on the small column stalk below wipers. Go to "SET" and scroll down till you get to lights

Hello folks,

I'm a 1st time porsche owner having recently bought a lovely 2008 Cayman S Sport. I love the car and i'm learning more and more about it each time i drive it.

It has DRL's turned on, and while stationary the other day, playing with the lights and switches, i saw a message on the dash says "Daylight Running Lights off". I'm not sure what i did to do this. So i don't know if it was the lights dial, or a turn of the key in the ignition (the car was running) or something else.

Now i can't work out what i did, and i'm really keen to understand how i turned the lights off - the interwebs hasn't been helpful, so i'm wondering if any of you can shed any light for me?

I don't think i saw it in the dash based settings using the stalk under the lights, but i'll definitely look again when i get home tonight.

The manual was the first place i turned, but it was pretty unclear in that how to turn them off. So no joy there sadly.

If anyone else has any hints or tips on this, then please do share!

I might be wrong, but I seem to remember that unlike other menus it is longer than the screen can show, hence you don't see it until you use the lever to scroll down, then it appears at the bottom. Maybe!

That is correct. On 2nd or 3rd page

Well this is confusing - I've an 09 Sport and it doesn't have DRL's or the option on the menu? Just out of interest, do you have TPMS on your car?

As I mentioned in the other thread that Jeff has linked to the DRLs are actually the dipped beams. It says this in the manual. I've turned mine off with the stalk and just put the LED sidelights on if I want a DRL type of look.

So, there is no option in the dash computer for DRL's. The Set menu does go to a 3rd page, but it stops at "Clock" as an option. I also read on another forum that on some cars the DRLs can be managed through "Limits", but no joy there for me either i'm afraid.

Colgy - No, i dont have TPMS on mine, as far as i know; I've certainly found nothing in set menu's etc about it.

So, this takes me back to how i saw the "Daylight Running Lights off" message. I'm pretty sure this was activated while i was playing with the lights switch. I've seen the message twice, so know i'm not imagining things! But, i wasn't able to replicate it again when i had a quick fiddle with it over the weekend.

Reason I asked is that your car may be slightly different; for example, TPMS is standard in 2007 S> but appears to get deleted in the Sport, hence the menu is slightly different. I couldn't find a DRL option in my menu either.

With mine you get to 'Set' and then push the stalk to get a number of options. I then scroll down to the bottom where I find 'lights' which is below 'clock'. Once on lights I push the stalk and it brings up 'daytime lights' and a box to check to have them on or off.

When I owned my viper green Cayman s sport I don't ever remember it having daylight running lights.

I think you're right Cliff. I think DRLs weren't introduced until the Gen2 models (MY2009).
