Hi all,
First post - thanks for having me on the forum I promise I'll post on the welcome thread as soon as I can sort out a couple of good recent photos.
I was wondering if I could pick 997 owners' brains about brake discs. I have been considering upgrading the discs on my Carrera S to two piece floating discs of the same size (hoping for a direct replacement). The main goal would be to save unsprung weight with a view to also replacing the wheels in the longer term. Carbon ceramics are not an option
However the price difference between OEM and two-piece is significant looking at design911 (about 4x for brembo and similar for giro discs; EPC might have alternatives too) and it's being difficult to find specs that will allow me to compare the different options including against the OEM discs. In particular weights.
Does anyone have any experience with two piece discs on a Carrera S/4S/turbo (if it doesn't have them from factory)? Ideally has anyone done this in their car and how noticeable was the difference? Does anyone know what's the weight of the standard OEM discs when new?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Pedro.
