Type descripter for 1969 911S Targa

This is a bit of a long shot but I'll ask the question.

I have a friend (an Aussie) who lives in Hokkaido, Japan who has recently acquired and is restoring a 1969 911S Targa. Most of the work is now completed and he is attempting to get the car insured in order that he can actually use it. However, he has stumbled across a problem relating to the Japanese registration documents whereby the "Type" field is entered, in Japanese, as "fumei" - translates as "Unknown". Because of this the insurance premiums being quoted are substantially higher than he currently pays for his 1990 964 (which has a Type: E-964A).

The question, then, is - does anyone have any idea what the Type should be? I've suggested he post a question on Rennlist and e-mail Customer Services at Porsche Cars GB but if anyone has any better ideas I'm all ears!! Perhaps someone on DDK might have some ideas?? Even if we can find out what it SHOULD be there is the issue of actually getting it changed - but that's another story!!

Regards

Dave

My 72 is registered on the DVLA form as

Make : PORSCHE
Model/Type : 911
Body Type : COUPE

I would expect his body type to be TARGA. I think the field you are looking for (which is E-964A on his other car) would be 911.

Hope that helps.

Ian.
