Tyre advice

I know I shouldn't mix N ratings but I'm faced with the predicament of having 4mm on my fronts whilst 0mm on my rears (well close, but you know what I mean!). I'm running Pirelli PZero Corsa System (235 Directional, 295 Asymmetrical L&R N6) and don't especially during these winter months want to invest in some expensive 295 Corsa rubber. Has anyone got any suggestions or has run mixed N-rating in the past?

Many thanks,

Damian

Understand your predicament, but if you must mix N ratings, consult the manufacturer first.

I know Michelin have tried various combinations, according to their man, Steve Dolby.

In this case are you saying Corsas on the front, and what? Rossos on the rear?

In this scenario you would be mixing more than N-numbers, but construction and tread patterns as well.

As Mel said - ask the manufacturer. It may be ok, but unlikely...

You could always get the corsas removed from the front and keep them for the summer/trackday season. I know owners who switch back and forth. Helps if you can find a friendly tyre fitter!

Thanks for the advice guys!

Yes Mark, I was toying with the idea of putting Rossos or Pzero Asymmetrical.

I've probably end up with putting another set of Corsas on the rear and exercise a little bit of caution in the wet. But I'll check with the guys at Silverline (Pirelli Performance Centre) on 'mixing'.

Many thanks.

Unlikely!!! Absolutely no chance!!

N numbers - same make?? possible.... CHECK WITH MANUFACTURER - not your friendly QF fitter!

Build and tread pattern??? Madness! Unless you are a specialist with a lot of knowledge trying to engineer some form of handling characteristic such as Michael Shoooomaker's personal trainer....

Calm down guys!

I do intend to check with the manufacturer via Silverline - they are a Pirelli Performance Centre (some of you may have seen them support ing the GT3RS boys at several events) and I don't want to get fobbed of by the typical response from Pirelli Customer Services.

We need 4 corners for our C4S, will be interested in replies to this thread. Been doing some research ourselves, Costco have an offer on Michelins until 3 July 20% off if you buy 4. This sounds like a good deal but can we trust Costco with our baby or do we pay more for a recommended independent fitter.

Just replaced the rear tyres on my C4S (originally N3) with Zero Rosso N4 to match the fronts which were N4.

I have just done a trip to Germany they seem OK and give good road holding and reasonably quiet even on Belgium roads!

Dont mix tyre brands on the car or on the same axle and try to stick with the same N rating, some insurance companies require the N rated tyres!

I purchase all my tyres from Elite in Rainham, Essex, always the cheapest and they do them fitted or on there own delivered.
My rear tyres were £446 fitted.
You could also try Black Circles.

just bitten the bullet and gone ps2 all round on the turbo n3's

I used event tyres primarily so i could keep a v close eye on the fitter (ceramic discs!)

wasnt cheap 940 ish i had been waiting for ages for costco ,but 20 percent discount vs a spanner monkey near my discs who doesnt care less

also the arrnagements to get the tyres fitted at costco are quite frankly a pain in the rear

everyone had been raving about the ps2's intial impressions appear promising

Just to let people know, 25% off 4 tyres at ats euromaster and 15% for 2. Match this with the £40 fuel deal from michelin you can get all 4 for under £700.

Going to go and check that deal out!!

Thanks gaz911

Will have to dig out the Costco card then.

The thing I hate about that place is that you can never just go in and buy what you went there for. You always end up buying stuff you will never use.

We always seem to come away from there with a carful of toilet and kitchen rolls.......

I try to take Mrs H there in the 911 wherever possible. Too expensive if we use her car.

Too true. Have you tried the large yellow microfibre 'detailers drying cloth' they do? Really good.

Not quite sure how we got from tyres to bog rolls, but it makes a change to the normal tyre threads. Hardly surprising that Mobil 1 made an appearance in it too. [:D]

Can vouch for that, we use these cloths too, they're ace. Don't know what we'd do if they stopped doing them, suppose we could always resort to the toilet/kitchen roll mountain in our loft [;)]

I always end up with a bucket of finish dishwasher powder, Mach 3 blades and an assortment of butter croissants .[:)]
