Tyre Choice

I have sent my wheels off to be refurbed and need to fit new tyres when they're back. The wheels are 18" Ruf Speedline. Looking at Bridgestone SO2 but wondered if anyone had any other recommendations.
Cheers

Kev,
Can't advise whats best for 18" rims. Just recently replaced all four corners (17's) with Michelin Pilot Sport . Had Pirelli's on previously. Noticable ride improvement with the Michelins, great grip. Will have to past judgement on wear at the moment ;)

Tyres are very much a personal choice IMO. Many poo poo Conti Sport Contact 2 N2 but I've used them for about 4 years now (a number of sets [;)]) and like their feel and the gradual breakaway from grip rather than suddenly just letting go.

They dont make SO2s anymore do they, and havent for a couple of years. I'm think of replacing mine, as they must be quite old by now. What do you want the tyres for, 100% road, road + track, or dry road + lots of track. All makes a difference.

I have a set of fronts Conti Sport 2 N1 rated 91Y 205/55 ZR17" if anyone is interested only did about 2k miles £100 the pair x carriage I believe they fit a 964

Mainly road use only, have spare set of 17" cups which I am going to put Direzzas on for the occasional track day.
Is it the Potenza that has replaced the SO2's ?

the chart is good for adhesion wet & dry but what about ride quality including road noise ?
I found bridgestone quite loud compared to the continentals i went to for example.Of course the
age of the tyres will come into play as they harden over time etc

I found this info and thought I'd save it for when I needed new tyres.
Can't remember where I got it from.

Recommends Pzeros for the C2, but I thought they were no longer available 'N' rated. I used to use them on my S2 for years and years but changed over to S02s when I could no longer obtain them.

Are S02s no longer available either now? I've heard about the less progressive breakaway for these tyres, which was not such an issue on the S2 as the transaxle is more forgiving than the rear engined layout.

Any other suggestions? My car came with P6000s when I brought it with loads of tread and still have a fair bit of life in them.

This for standard 16" wheels.

I original had P Zeros on mine for the first 2 years. The I changed to Toyo Proxies and the increase in grip was immediately noticable. They are also quieter and last longer. Oh and cheaper !! :)

Thanks for the feedback. Got my refurbed wheels back from Lepsons today and very pleased with the finish, the service and the price. I will try to post some pics over the weekend. My local tyre supplier has come back today and said that he can still get SO2's. so i have opted for them as I was very pleased with them on my 993.
