I'm sure most of you will already know about tyre date codes (giving week number and year of manufacture) but this is just a cautionary word of warning. My 997.1 C4S Cabriolet only does about 3,000 miles a year so I usually replace my tyres due to age related cracking etc rather than lack of tread. I've just returned from my local (excellent) tyre fitter for four new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - I know they're not N rated but I want to try them anyway. They ordered the tyres in for me and rang me to arrange fitting this morning. I'm replacing Bridgestone Potensa's dated 2015 front, and early 2016 rear, and just starting to perish. When they were fitting the first of the tyres they noticed that both the supplied "new" rear tyres were date coded for Mid 2016 - only a few weeks newer than the bridgestones!! Naturally he has refused to fit them and complained to his supplier and arranged to get them replaced with new stock - the fronts were coded for late 2019. So beware, I am lucky my tyre fitter is on the ball and honest, but he is a one man band independent - I'm not sure everyone would be so lucky.
