Tyre pressure on 18" wheels

Can anyone please tell what tyre pressures I should be using please on 18" wheels.

I have Pirelli P Zero's 225 / 40 / zr 18's on the fronts and
265 / 35 / zr 18's on the rears.

regards lee

36psi all round is the recommended pressures for 17" wheels. The 18" tyres are best with a little more in the rears. The shorter sidewalls of the lower profile 18s needs a bit more pressure to stop the centres wearing. It's generally reckoned that 36 (F) and 44(R) is best.

Dave

44 psi in 18" rears on a 964 should work your fillings loose fairly quickly while not wearing the tyres unevenly. Dave may be spot on but it won't be nice.

I though the general consensus was 29 front and 36 rear?

There's nothing actually written down for pressures for 18s on a 964 because Porsche do not advocate their use. However the Michelin/Porsche guide advises the pressures quoted by Dave for 18s on a 993.

Hopefuly if weather is clear tonight I'm taking her out to this months meeting so will have to call at the garage first.
Will let you know how it feels.

FWIW the same pressures 44R and 36F are also specified for 16s. When I had 16s briefly on my car I thought it was a little bouncy at the back so dropped them to 40 which calmed it down a bit. Personally I think there's always room for a bit of fine tuning to suit personal preference.

Ninemeisters recommended 28F 36R for my 993 on 18" after they did a geo for me. Works well and there are no obvious wear issues.

Had prevously tried "official" settings and the drive was horrible!

Hi guys,

this gave me a headheck for a few years (specially living south of France and when it get up to 35°),I run 30/32 front max and 34/36 rear max; over that the car skeed and I found I loose feel on stering on fast coners, I suppose it depens on type of tyres and geo set up, mine is a C4 with RS height slitly lower at front 2° camber with KW V3, standart sway bars, also Toyo recomends as a hot temp for R888 on track 32/34 F , 36/38 rear, someone may correct me but the stiffer the springs are, the pressure needs to be very accurate...

I suppose a test could be to start at 30/ 32F 34/36R and increase by 2 psi

I seem to remember reading in Paul Freres book that the rears are only 44 to decrease the rolling resistance and increase the top speed -in my experience, feels bleeding awful!!
