Tyre Pressure

Hi,

My friend has a 2002 'S' and was wondering what pressure you guys run for the front and back on the 255/35/18 and 215/45/18 tyres? His have worn in the middle so I guess he was running them over inflated.

Many thanks.

I have a 3.2s with 205/50/17 front and 255/40/17 rear tyres.

I have always found the recommended 29psi front and 36psi rear a bit high. I tend to run the rears at 34psi for a bit of compliance and extra traction in these wintry conditions.

I also run the rears at 34 psi on current 18" wheel. Did so also on 17" wheel. Not sure that 2psi should make a whole heap of difference, but like the previous contributor, I found this to work a bit better.

official tyre sizes for 18s are 225/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear. Have never deviated from 29psi front, 36 psi rear and have always had perfectly even tyre wear.

I remember these pressures 29/ 2.0bar front and 36/2.5bar rear on my last 987.
The new Gen 2 I just picked up door sticker says 2.0 bar front and 2.1 bar rear and that is what the dealer has set them to.
It seems they changed the pressures for the new tyre/suspension set-up of the Gen 2 then.

Different tyres - new formulation from Michellin.

My dealer's technician has confirmed its due to differences in the Gen2, but when pressed what he didn't really know- weight. Said if the sticker says 2.1 rear then thats what it means.

I have had a look and they are Michelin Sport N4s - is that what makes them GEN II specific?
How did you find out about this?

It's mentioned in the web special and IIRC Mr.Michelin brought it up when he gave a talk for R10 at OPC Silverstone.
