Tyre pressures for Road use

I have just exchanged my Boxster S for a new Carrera 4. It is equipped with standard suspension, 18 inch wheels with Pirelli Rosso tyres. There was much discussion on the Boxster page about preferred tyre pressures. Does anyone have any advice for me with regards to the new car?

many thanks

I have conti sport contact 2' s on my 18" wheels.
I have been using the recommended pressures, of 36 front and 44 back.
It is mostly motorway/dual carriageway use, and it seems fine so far. I haven' t looked too closely to see how they are wearing, but it feels fine and the ride, going and stopping seem OK.
The handling is neutral and I don' t get it sliding or have the traction control come on, which is what you would expect if the pressures are roughly right.

If it' s dry tomorrow (and I remember) I' ll check the tread depth across the tyres front and back to see how its going (after 3.5K miles).

I checked them.
The circumferential grooves (the ones that run around the tyre) are pretty much the same depth, to within 0.5mm. The rears have 5 grooves, the fronts 4.

The small grooves at the edge of the tyre are 1-1.5 mm less deep, but I think this may be as designed, rather than due to any undue wear.

In summary then, for normal road driving (at UK speeds) I would say the Porsche recommeded figures, as mentioned before, are OK.
