Tyre Pressures - help?

Hello....

My C2 has the 18" turbo alloys, was trying to find out what the correct tyre pressure should be, front and back??

Help?

there should be a sticker on the inside of the door b pillar with the data ?

Keep them on OEM pressures

I think the sticker on the inside of the door would relate to the pressure of the C2 spec and not me changing the wheels to the turbo ones??

The dimensions are

Front: 225/40/18"
Rears 285/30/18"

BTW if the car is 1996 or later C2 the door sticker has the pressures for the optional 18" wheels on it. If an earlier year or Targa or Cab only has the 16" and 17" pressures on it.

36F and 44R are the official pressures for the tire sizes you have posted. Note you have the 996 sized tires on the rear (285/30/18) rather than the 993 sized tire (265/35/18) but they are interchangable and 285/30 seems quite a common fitment on 993s.

Also if a pre 96 car you may need to retro fit the steering brace on the front to fit 18" wheels - think the details are in the FAQ or technical section.

I researched this a few months ago. I think that Maurice has got it right (again!): 36F 40R feels best & is likely to lead to your tyres not wearing the centre tread out prematurely. 44R is too high IMHO.

I was wearing the centres of the rear tyres at 40 as well (I am wearing 285/30/18 on the back) and I've found 36 all round works best after 2 years of trial and error. I also found the rear felt more planted at these pressures. Just my 2 cents worth!

I have been running 36F 40R on mine and recently checked the tread depths (tyres have done approx 2,500 miles mostly twisty A or B roads) and the centres are not wearing quicker than the edges.

Edited to add: I have SO2s fitted.
 
You could even go down a bit on the fronts to even it out a bit, in my opinion. I run 33(ish)/40 on mine, with no detriment to the fronts, which still (as usual) outlast the backs at least 2 to 1[;)]. (Incidentally, tyres are P-Zeros)
 
I did a Rennlist search on this. Higher rear pressures are necessary because the rear tyres are wider & more prone to distortion in the central part of the tread if under-inflated. I'm going to stick with 36F/40R as a minimum. From a safety point of view, under-inflation can lead to over-heating of the tyre. I can't see that Porsche would give us wildly inaccurate advice on this subject, IMHO.
