my Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 tyres are coming to the end of their life and wanted to know if anyone else had any other recommendations? I've driven around 30,000 miles with these and they've been great, but that being said I don't have anything to compare these to.

New recommendations would be super helpful and interesting.

For me sizes are a bug-bear, but I ended up with Falken ZE310's on the front:

And Nankang Sportnex AS2+ on the rear:

Both can be had for under £100 a corner and offer good wet and dry grip. Nankang have come a long way since their early "ditch finder" efforts!

Falkens are often recommended, but the way that both inner sidewalls split on our Fiesta ST, means I wouldn't go near them for any performance car.

You may have mentioned this before.................. :p

Bad batch maybe, anyway, mine have been great with plenty wet and dry grip.

:p My Mrs had that 2014 Fiesta ST from new, and it had a very easy life. Took it for an MOT not expecting any issues, and the MOT man called me and said look at the splits in the inner sidewalls . Falken then mucked us around for months before replacing them. I'm probably as tight as you are ;), but I don't take chances with brakes or tyres. So something like Michelin, Continental or Pirelli are what I use on performance cars now. I'm not saying other tyre brands that I haven't used aren't good, but I have used Falken, so I use Kuhmo tyres on my runaround now. Just remembered , had a similar experience with Toyos on a Fiesta Zetec S a few years back.

I ran Toyo's for years on the '44 and never had any issues. Maybe you have a knife wielding maniac on the loose with a thirst for inner sidewalls.....

I suppose we all have our own experiences.

Shortly after Falken decided to give me 2 new tyres, I saw their advert saying they were now oe suppliers for the Audi A3. So maybe they improved them on the quiet. The Toyos didn't split, just bulged quite a bit, and I have read that they're not as good as they used to be. You get what you pay for I guess.

Fair enough. I agree that Toyo's aren't what they were, soft sidewalls, but didn't have any bulging issues with 3 or 4 sets over the years. I do remember the last set I had I had an issue with a out of round front tyre that showed up on a balancer. Haven't bought any since.

Last time I looked Toyo's were more expensive and either one or both my sizes weren't available so that was the final nail in the coffin for me. My current tyres offer better wet grip than the Toyo's ever did and dry grip is on a par.

I'd suggest buying some 17" Cup wheels to open up the tyre choice, but sellers seem to think late offset Cups are worth silly money now.

I would not disagree, I do really like my CS wheels though, really suit the car, and are nice and light. If I had D90's however, I'd be more inclined to change.

It's a shame as I really like the D90s, if only Michelin would make some tyres in the right size (for both front and rear, they do a standard tyre that fits one end).

I don't mind D90's but the CS is a nicer and lighter wheel if you are lucky enough to have a set. Same issues with tyre sizes though sadly......
