Tyre size for an S2

Hi all

Planning to change my wheels for Cup 1 replicas and I am now all sorted on my offsets but still a little puzzled as to the tyre size I should have. I want 17' wheels but am receiving conflicting information on the correct size.

I think (the car isn't with me right now) that the current rears are 255/45/17 but some dealers are saying that I should have 255/40/17

My fronts are currently 225/50/17 and I am being told to either have 205/50/17 or 235/45/17

I love the look of the wider wheels but obviously the incorrect diameter wheel is going to mess with my gearing etc and a sidewall that is too narrow will affect my steering/handling/feel!

Help!

The official current Porsche approved tyres for 17" wheels on a 944 or 968 are 255/40 ZR17 rear, 225/45 ZR17 front.
Your choice of either Bridgestone Potenza S-02 N3 or Michelin PilotSport PS2 N3.

This is assuming 7.5 x 17 front wheels and 9 x 17 rear wheels.

Hi Joss,
Thanks a lot for the nod on the white car. I had seen it and it looks fantastic, but the noise from the engine got the alarm bells ringing! Could be expensive-shame as the car looks really good with nice spec.
Yet another change of heart. Am now thinking early 2.5 in white if I can find one with a sound body. There seem to be plenty of second-hand 2.5 engines around at reasonable prices. Cheers.
