Tyre time

It's time to change my tyres and wondering which ones to go for. I've been running contact2's for the last two sets but have not been that impressed. I've been humming and arghing about either sport pilot 2 or Bridgestone S0 2's any advice would be welcome. I do about 4k miles a year, I do drive a little quick and do the odd track day.

Thanks in advance
Steve

Allowing for personal preference, I've found the Continentals are quieter, less grippy in dry conditions and wear faster. The Michelins are slightly noisier, more grippy in the dry (perhaps less in the wet?) but they last noticeably longer. Never tried any others. if I was buying tomorrow, I'd have the Michelins again.

I've found nexen n8000 to a great tyre, they aren't porsche approved but a very good tyre. + they are almost half the price of the usual bunch

Been running the Bridgestones SO2s for a year on the rear and they are fine. Just put some Bridgestone SO2A on the front and pleased so far. And a reasonable price if you look about.

For me, its the Michelins every time. I've just gone onto my third set of rears so that's about 21k miles per set. They grip well in both the wet and dry plus I have used them on the occasional track day.

Guys
This may be of interest to those looking for tyres Costco are doing a deal at the moment buy 4 and get a £100 voucher buy 2 get £50 Voucher to use in Costco offer ends 17th June
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 N rated 235/35/19 £161.98 each 265/35/19 £214.78 each, all are inclusive Vat fitting and balance .
Seem a fair deal

They do other deals in different sizes

Event Tyres fit them at your location and supply whatever you ask for subject to availability, They are also good on price, search on the internet for Event Tyres.

I have used Continental, Michelin and Bridgestones, the Continental wear fast, don't grip quite so well as the Michelins which are the best of the approved tyres and Bridgestone are not quite so good as the Michelins but are much cheaper than either of the others.

I run 19" wheels in summer currently on Bridsgestones and 18" in Winter with Michelin Alpins which are excellent

The michelins are also quite a bit quieter and give a bit more compliant ride then the bridgestones. I have also found the wet weather grip a lot better on the michelins.
