Tyre Wear

Just had a look at my tyres after a brilliant day at Spa on Monday. Started off with almost new P Zero Corsas so I was interested to see how even the wear was - or not. Basically all four tyres are pretty evenly worn from the inside across the middle and the outer tread is worn right down with just a little tread remaining.
Any thoughts - is this good, bad, as expected ?

if you mean the very edge of the tyre then this will wear and feather more than when on road. If you mean the last 1/3 rd of the tyre then you might have set up problems. Are you sure you mean outside edge?. Far more common for them to wear the inside edge, especially with cars running increased camber?
 
Hi Steve. Sounds very much like your set up but if your outside edge is very worn I think you probably need more negative camber. SPA has a number of fast corners and I found tyre wear quite high there, especially the fronts. Do you know what set up you are currently running.

Inside edge wears if you do a lot of road mileage while running negative camber so unlikely to be that.
 
Running at 2.2 bar hot - I didn't try any lower than this but at higher pressures there was no grip. The wear on the outer is just feathering of the outer edge - seems about the same on all 4 corners. I guess I was surprised that there wasn't more wear on the inners particularly the rears, I don't have details of the set up but looking at the rears its not running that much negative camber.

Steve, I wrecked a set of P-Zero Corsa at Spa with a bad set up over two very warm days... Symptoms were same as yours, only worse in my case.
 
A bit more neg camber old boy, but it may spoil the straight line stability on road and increase the tramlining effect and lead to more wear on the INNER EDGES on road.
 
Steve - how many mm did you wear off the tyres ? I'm getting a bit worried as am going to Spa end of May and intending to drive there and back on an old set of Dunlop 'road legal' stickies that dont have much left on the rears...[8|]

Don't know what tread depth Corsas start with, but I did about 1000km driving there & back plus the track mileage from new and they have about 4 - 5mm left across most of the tread and 3mm on the outer feathered bit. It was very cold and I wasn't trying to break the lap record so you can expect to have slicks to drive home on. I think AutoTrack will have tyre support for the May event although they didn't last week I assume due to a low turnout.

Thats what I concluded too for the rear anyway - just backed off the anti-roll bar one notch to try to stop the rear drifting away mid corner. Suspect more camber is the better way to go or I'll get even more understeer into Rivage.
