Tyres 165 HR 15

I need tyres for my 911 T - size 165 HR 15.

The car is still using its original chromium plated steel rims, and I want to keep it that way.

Can anyone recommend a dealer who can supply these tyres, without having to pay Formula One type prices?

Many thanks,

Arfor.

Arfor. Suggest you try Longstone Tyres at Bawtry via Google Search. They specialise in tyres for Classics and Vintageants. On viewing their list, they have quite a good choice of the required size and some are quite reasonably priced. I know someone who runs the Vredestein on a '68 911 and they perform ok. I have personally used them for tyres on another car which they fitted during a visit and I found their service very good. I run Pirelli P6000 on a '72 911T and they are the business but unfortunately they dont list that pattern in your size at this moment. Hope this helps. Cliff

Thanks very much, Cliff, I shall keep them in mind.
On the ddk-online forum, I was referred to Camskill who are based in Whitehaven, Cumbria and they have the Vredestein in their range.
However, I have opted for the Firestone 560. It has a slower speed rating that the original-equipment HR tyre, but that doesn't concern me.

Thanks for your response.

Arfor.

I had Firestone 560 on my 356 and they were horrible, poor grip in the dry and wet and so hard they would last forever. I also would not go to the slower rating for the tyres, not sure what that might mean for the MOT or insurance if you have the wrong speed rating on the tyres. I run my 1973 911 S on Pirelli P6000 priced at £71 each fitted & balanced for 195/65 VR15 on 6 inch rims from my local independant tyre fitters.
