Tyres for my C4S

I need some new rear tyres for my C4S (305/35/19s) and my OPC has quoted £380 each, including fitting (but "may be able to talk to their supplier to reduce the price a bit")....

I can get a pair delivered for £500 from tyretraders.co.uk.

Has anyone done this, and then paid the OPC to fit them - the car will be at the OPC for its 2-year service!

Thanks !

Yes - always tell them the price you can find outside the OPCs - at least they then have a chance to match or come close.

check out www.mytyres.co.uk or www.blackcircles.com for examples of whats acheiveable in terms of discount, although by the time you pay for fittign and disposal of the old there might not be that much saving to be had !

Also check your tyre size - is the profile ratio 30 or 35 ??

Yes, just a typo - the fronts are 35, the rears 30!

Interestingly,. Blackcircles (who I've used previously on other cars) were quoting around £350 each....

Just found out that the OPC won't fit tyres they haven't supplied.........

Thanks

I wSould never consider buying tyres from a OPC full stop. I learnt that lesson when I first bought a Boxster an d they wanted £600 for two rear tyres. I got the same tyres fitted (Contact2s) for £360. I put this to the sales staff at the OPC and his response was that Porsche insist on a certain percentage mark up on non porsche manufactured items (figure not disclosed) so I was right to shop elsewhere. Incidentally I replaced the rear tyres on my 996 C4S 295/30/ZR18 with Tanvic in Lincoln once again for £360 fitted, it does take some screwing the nut with the distributors but if they want the custom they have to be competitive.

I know the pain. I naively paid full OPC price for a rear shortly after I purchased my car. Was about £200 more than my local tyre guy. Never again.

Presume these are not Bridgestone as they are rarer than hen's teeth at the moment. Lack of availability/manufacturer commitment is certainly something to consider when deciding on what brand to fit.

Try this guy:

Jefferies Tyres: 01527 831829 Contact: Simon

Not that I have had any tyres for my 997 yet but have always used him!

My F550 - Quoted £290 to £500 per rear - Simon did them for £190 inc VAT & Fitting

My Touareg - Quoted £220 to £260 per corner - Simon £175 inc VAT & Fitting

Worth a Try!!
