TYRES - Sorry yawn

Found some Cup 1 Replicas with correct ET to fit my early 944.

They are 17" and staggered 7"/9"s as compared to my 15" Cookies 7"s.

What tyre sizes am I looking at ? Current height from floor to top of the tyre is 59cm and arch is 64cm on all corners so I still have a bit of room to play with.

Or am I going to get told off [8|] ?

225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear are the standard sizes I believe.

Others may advocate a 205 front.

Thanks guys, your coments have given me a start point, especially with profile. Currently run 205/55/15 on my cookies which I have been very happy with having lowered the front end by 30mm and back end 25mm (eliptical nut). So 205 on the front sounds good just want to avoid the 'stretch' look on the rear, I may wait till after Joon Hoon and have a nose of what other are running.

peace & love

Whilst I am aware that '225' is a notional measurement at best, it should be noted that 9" is 228mm.

I will also mention that whilst 'stretch' is seldom good, a silly exaggerated fad has no bearing on what is best, and a little stretch is exactly what you need.

The only issue, that no one has picked up on, is that the two differing wheel sizes are less than ideal, with 4x rears being best.

I run 215's on the front of my cup 1 reps, personally I think 225's is just a bit too much for the somewhat heavy steering.

I went for the 225 255 combination myself. I like the fat ass look in the back. I also looked at the diameter differences between front and back depending on tyre combinations. Anyway I stuck to it because it ends up with diameters closest to the original and the least diameter difference between front and rear wheels.

Of course I could be talking nonsense lol

I had cup 1 replicas (I think) on mine when I got it. Not an early car, so don't know about the offsets, but the rears were 255/40/R17 (9") and the fronts were 215/45/R17 (7"). (Nankangs as it happened! It handled beautifully on them!)
