I found the same think changing from contis on the fron and pirellis on the rear to Michelins all round.

I run p-zeros on the front and find they have perfect grip , low road noise and good steering properties.

I switched from p-zeros on the rear to conti sport contact N rated due to availability when I needed some, very happy with the level of grip they provide and haven't noticed any tram lining to be honest.

I think we had better assume they were free issue from a friendly supplier and the OP did the alignment himself at no cost to the business.

I recently changed cars and the new one came with Michelin PS2s and I was amazed how the car no longer tramlined down the M4. It was a night and day difference over my old car with worn Pirelli Asymetricos. Alignment may also have been better in the new car.

Hi, I am in the market for two new rear tyres on the C4S , 295/30 R18
Has contis on right now front and rear so tempted to stick with these for the rear to keep all 4 the same.
Ay thoughts on whether its ok to have say ps2 on the rears and contis on the front?

Hi there,

I have just fulfilled a lifetime ambition and bought my first Porsche 996 Carrera 4.

My cheeks hurt from the constant grin I have from driving the car and I am absolutely thrilled by the car.

It's a 9 year old 996 with a full Porsche service history and I have checked the old MOT's as well.

It has what I am told are the correct tyres, Michelin Pilots all round. I will need 2 new rear tyres in the next few months.

Are there any recommendations for replacement tyres please ? I will need 2 x michelin pilot n rated 285/30 zr18

I am also looking to buy a suitable warranty and wondered if any owners could kindly point me in the right direction ?

Many thanks in advance.

Mark

Congrats on the purchase, had mine for a month now and love it.
I managed to get a Gold warranty throught the delaer which covers a lot and has an excess of £50. Cost £680 for 12 months.
Car is 2002 C4s with 42k full Porsches history until last two which were specialists.
It's with warranty direct ltd and its just the one the dealer uses for all his mandatory warranties.

So I have been quoted the following from garage I use.
2 x rear tyres fitted including VAT. 295/30R18
Contis - £251.00
Mich - £246.00
Pirelli - £217.00

The front of car has the contis on and it's a C4S. Is it bad to have different tyres on rear considering AWD system?

Mark!

I would stick with Michelins if I were you. Slightly more pricy, but the best of the bunch that I tried. Personally, I wouldn't mix makes F/R, but others do without any issues.

Whereabouts are you? If I was near Bolton, I would consider Hartech's Maintenance Plan, rather than a warranty. I believe others are doing similar schemes, such as Sports & Classic in Knutsford.

Is there any mechanical reason to stick to same manufacturer all round or just aesthetics?
Do the Michelins really make the car less noisy on the road? Cheers

Porsche say don't mix makes or N ratings at all, but many do. In my case, it is probably a bit of OCD.

I have had Pirellis, Contis, Michelins (N-rated), and Yokohamas (non-N rated) on my 996s. Of all the N-rated, I found Michelins to be the best overall in terms of grip, noise and wear. I've never had Bridgestones, but many people on here rate them highly.

I thought it was best to keep the same F/R for 4 wheel drive but careers 2's its not as important.

hi after having all four michelins on the car for 500 miles it drives so much better it like a new car . must always set up the wheel alignment right as i ve done mine .its now fun to drive and the car go where i put it no more following the camber like it did with the contis on [:)]

Hi Guys,
Just had the garage on about my tyres.

At the moment I have N2's on the front and these have good tread left.
I need to replace both rears due to nasty puncture but apparently Michelin can only offer either N3 or N4 as they no longer do N2.

Does this mean I need to change all four tyres or what would you do???

Just replace the rears with N4s (by the time you need to replace the fronts, N3s might also not be available) You're not going to be able to tell the difference anyway I'd wager. The only issue would be with trying to get a Porsche warranty.
