tyres wheels for 86 model 911 carrera

my car has 205/55/16 on frt and 245/45/16 on rear ...but I have also got a set of wheels and tyres ( from 97 ) that are : frt 205/55/17 on 7.5.j and 255/40/17 on 9j for rear ...

will these wheeld and tyres fit ok ...anyone done this ? and any issues i should know about ?

if you have the wheels with tyres on you can try, just give it a go. You may find the tyres rub the rear arch during cornering, in which case you may need to use some spacers/roll the arch lip. I may be wrong but the 17s with those tyre dims on will give a larger rolling diameter than your current ones so you may find the car handles/accelerates differently.
 
205/55-16 = 24.9" diameter
245/45-16 = 24.7" diameter

205/55-17 = 25.9" diameter
255/40-17 = 25.0" diameter

So the rears will look a bit more natural than the front.
If you must have 17's, then use 205/50-17 = 25"

But you may regret low profile tyres unless you also go for soft shock absorbers
