Tyres

Hi, As always the right tyres are dependent on what you want to spend. People always suggest certain types but as long they are not the cheapest budget tyre and you are not a regular with track days or driving at significant speed most tyre will meet the needs. I expect you don’t do the miles to also worry about wear either. There are the obvious brands that can be in most part be depended on. If your tyre pressure monitors are working runflats can be used and you can’t get better than Bridgestone Potenza, the continental contact sport are also good. Personally I had my sensors removed so had none runflats, my preferred brand was yokohama and I found these gripped extremely well on the front. Recently on a 964 I have tried Toyo and I am very pleased with the grip. Now days do not discount the unusual brands from asia. They are a little cheaper but all have very good performance. Most of those brands now also have racing pedigree such as Kumho, hankook, toyo, maxxis. It’s a personal choice and most will only recommend the common brands. There are plenty of discussion forums on the web, just run a google search for “tyres for Porsche 928” the only issue I found in the past is that due to the tyre pressure monitors there are references to run flat tyres. If I was buying a tyre tomorrow I would get either go with a Kumho or toyo tyre. Thanks Dave

Worth checking Goodyear Eagle F1s. Not sure if they are available in 'N' spec sizes, but they always perform well in all the comparative tests. Most significantly, they have the quietest noise ratings and very good ride compliance should this be important.
