You've probably pinned the tyres down to the best three, but you will be dissapointed with wear rates if you change from the Conti's.

I used to get 5,000m out of the rears on P0's or S02's on a 964C4.......

You really must try harder!! [;)]

Do a search on Rennlist.........that'll keep you out of mischief for hours!! Also see www.porsche964.co.uk

Agree with Melv, you will find it hard to get a better all round compromise than the Contis (wear / performance).

Hi,

I have Eagle F1's on the front on 7x16 and Toyo on the rear on 9x16. The toyo seem to give good all round grip and the F1's certainly help going round the corners in the wet[8D]

S02's hard to come by but try Elite Tyres at Horsham, Dave Blackley very helpful, or Wraysbury Tyres at Chertsey. (Steve or Kevin) See: www.wraysburytyres.co.uk.

Also check 'Customers Cars' for my web page!! [:D]

Just had the rears changed on my C2. ( SO2'S )
£90 each--------incuding fitting.
Target Tyres------Northolt Middlesex
If any help

I've tried Conti's and P Zeros on my C2 and have been happy with both. I think the P Zero's are better for out-right grip but they wear faster than the Conti's.

Looking myself at the moment, with the same dilema.
If you're in the area, Micheldever, near Winchester offer a good service & very good prices.
Don't bother sending an email, as they don't respond & there's no prices on the website.
However very helpful on the phone.
Contemplating using them, as my car is at Southbound for a new roof.
Problem is the extra cash, on top of the roof cost, but tyres are kind of important ;-D
Prices for 17" - 205/50/17 & 255/40/17 were
Conti N2s £483.91
Bridgstone SO2s N3 £495.66
Toyo Proxes T1-R £451.01 (Not N rated!)
These included fitting, balancing & VAT.
Will probably go with the Conti Sportcontact N2s again, as they've been good & worn well (+/-25,000km).
I drive hard, but done no track, other than one 22.8km lap of the Nordschleife (Ring).

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]You're going to get a fair amount of personal opinion and subjectivity I guess - it's a personal preference thing. I suspect that unless you're tracking the thing most times you're not in normal use going to able to tell the difference me thinks.

My C4 came with Proxies which were fine and when they needed changing I just booted it up with Conti SportContacts. I know these are good in the wet, hard compound and good grip. It's been thrashed around the full Silverstone circuit and they grained pretty well ending up quite 'sticky'. I've been using nothing but these on the wife's Focus ST for years. Nothing more special than any other maybe, but for me I have that level of confidence with top range Conti's, that's all. N rated too (not that they must be N rated though).

I use something like blackcircles.com for a starting price (10% discount if you've bought before from them) then try kwik-fit or local indie to better.

Just thought I'd paddle my oar in this one. I use Pirelli P-zero's.
I don't track my car, but find them good in the wet and seem to be reasonably hard wearing.
I bought my rears from Kwik Fit, as they had the best Internet price at the time, however I didn't
let them loose on the fitting as ham fisted is too kind an expression to use. Good luck.[:)]

Kevin,
sorry for the belated response. I don't use the forum that often.
I have my tyres fitted by a local garage, (I live in Co.Durham)
The guy who owns the garage is a mate of mine, and he runs and maintains his own 964, which he has modified extensively.
He also maintains mine so I'm lucky in that respect. If you live anywhere near Durham I can give you further information.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport on mine (no track use). However if i was to track I would have a second pair of wheels!

Thanks all for your thoughts - as susepcted, a good dose of personal preference but I think I have enough information to make sure I don't make a stupid decision

Ideally you would like to change them all at the same time. Note also if the front tyres are over 5 years old they should get replaced. One of the cheapest places I found for getting the set of Michellins (which I got in January last year) was Micheldever tyres in Andover. You might find a promotion in January as people tend not to spend money in January. They were very professional as well.
