Anyone changed tyres recently?

I have Pirelli's as supplied and as usual they have disappointed wear wise.

Admittedly I have done six track days (around 400 miles car not hammered at all, easy on brakes) but they are shot at 6,000 miles.
The left front is totally treadless from the edges to the centre of the tread, similarly the rear which has great chunks out of it. Right side tyres also showing signs of wear so I will replace the whole set.

Pretty much the same as my 997 Turbo which I reshod with Bridgestone's which lasted until I sold it at about 23,000 miles.

Naturally there are none here so they have to be ordered but before I do I wondered if anyone was able to recommend perhaps Continentals which lasted well on my 996C4S.

Cheers

To the best of my knowledge the only N rated normal road tyres in the sizes that you need are the Pirelli P Zeros. You can get Michelin Sport Cup 2s or Dunlop Maxx but they are more track day tyres.

If you find any other N rated tyres in the right sizes please let us know.

Sorry about the tardy reply, I have been away. (not put away!!)

Sadly it seems that you are absolutely correct. I am still prodding local suppliers but none of them have come up with an alternative.

Nice little earner for Pirelli, supply rubbish tyres then have a monopoly when they wear out.

Most 991s seem to have been supplied new with Pirellis.
However, not a particularly 'quiet' tyre, and I've found they have become noisier with wear.
Of course, our high noise asphalt doesn't help.
Anyone have any experience of quieter tyres on the 991?

It would be helpful if you would post here the make of tyre if you spot a 991 Turbo S with anything other than Pirelli's.

I don't care how noisy they are I just want something that lasts longer!

Thanks

Bet that helped with the braking! Was it a crosswind landing?

Actually my left rear tyre looks a bit like that without the diagonal tear!

I have run the Cup2s on my Turbo S all summer including two Euro road trips. Wear rate has been remarkably good.

Suggest speaking with Litchfield ... they have experience running the Cup2s on road and track on a range of cars and are a Michelin dealer.

However when I got mine there were none available in UK or US and just managed to get a set out of Germany.

I live in Jersey, even harder to het tyres here and at a cost! (Transport)

I have a new set of Pirelli's ordered but no delivery date.

I have a couple of friends running Cups on GT3's mostly on track and they don't last long. We are all waiting for new tyres but the GT3's have similar track mileage to mine and virtually no road use except getting to and from the track with very low mileage. They are certainly no use to me with as mine are totaled with touring plus track.

What mileage are you getting and is road or track or a combination?

Thanks
