Hi Guys,
This age old subject has no doubt been covered over and over again, however I wanted your views on which tyres to fit to my 993 C4.
Less than 3 months ago i replaced my rear tyres with a set of Pirelli PZero Rosso's N4 tyres, after 3500 miles the tyres have worn down to the wear indicator, the tyres appear to have worn evenly accoss the whole width of the tyre. After replacing the tyres i had a full geomatry session including kinematic toe. I have not done any track days, and use the car every day with a mixture of motorways and town driving, i don't consider to abuse the car to the extent that the tyres should wear out at such an astonishing rate!!!
The front set which i had replaced again with PZero Rosso's N4 have a very good amount of tread left on them, they were replaced in September and have lasted about 6K miles so far with loads on life left in them.
I've had Pirelli's on the car before and the back set normally last about 10K, the only difference in the new set of tyres is that the new PZero rosso's are N4 where as the i think the previous set's have always been N3's, so not sure if they've change the compound for the N4's or if just a faulty batch.
I have contacted Pirelli for an explanation as to why they have worn out at such and astonishing rate, however not holding much hope.
Anyhow i now need to replace the rear tyres this week and the current thought is to go for Michelin Pilot Sport N2's, i've had Michelin PS on a number of High performance BMW's in the past and the overall conclusion is that they are a damn good tyre and last forever, also I believe Michelin's are O.E on some Porsche's however not sure whether they were O.E on the 993, hence the reason for this post to find out what other peoples experiences are, i'm after a good alround tyre with good wear, i don't need something that's going to give me the edge each and everytime.
.........Or go for the wild card - Continental Contisport N2's, which i have heard good reviews about and have used in the past on BMW's, cheaper than Michelin's however cost isn't really an issue as i don't mind paying a bit more up front for the long term rewards.
Please let me know what your thoughts are...
Thanks
Rajith
