Tyres !!

Hi chaps, what tyres are we fitting these days? half + of the approved tyres on the list are now superceded, and it would be good to hear your views on recent fitments.

I run a Carrera cab 1996 model year am running 225/40 ZR18, 265/35ZR18's on SO2A's they now need replacing, although only done 71/2 K miles they are to old I am told, (made even worse when I discovered they were 3 years old when they were supplied to me) They have been great tyres for all conditions, far better than the P0's fitted before.

Look forward to your input thanks

I've always liked Conti Sport Contact for wet and dry driving and they have a an inbuilt rim protector built in to the tyre, they re usually at the lower end of the price range as well!

Plus one!

In the last 6 mths I've changed from running Michelin PS2s to Conti Sport Contacts to improve on the wet handling as the Michelins were none to convincing in that department. Happy to say Contis far better in the wet yet virtually identical in the dry to the PS2s. Stiffer sidewalls in the PS2s too so another reason to change away from them, as I've got lowered suspension so it's pretty harsh on the country lanes where I go. PS2s didn't last too brilliantly either - 10k was all I got out of them (or at least for the rears), so another downside.

Both had Porsche N rating so no qualms there. Contis bearing up very impresively thus far. Don' think I'll need to change away from them. Price reasonable too, around £650 for 4 (Beissbarth alignment on top [;)] ).

Another vote for Conti's - been using them for years and been really pleased with the performance in both the wet and dry (and track days!).

Interesting you should say that, Graeme. Coincidentally, I've got Conti Sport Contacts all round now... my car is a C2, also with factory M033, 18" hollow spokes so very similar to yours (although yours is a C4, of course). Had PZeros before which were very good but seemed "˜harder' across country[;)].

Also fitted some conti's on the rear a couple of months back. Really impressed

Continental Sport Contact 2 (Porsche N2) 255/40 R17 Z (0) £159.65 including fitting (via Blackcircles).

After 5 years on various Pirelli P Zeros I've just put new Conti's on the front and am very happy following a couple of "enthusiastic" drives and a few hours at Brands.

Looks like Conti's are a favourite - had several sets on my 993 C2 and like the compromise of grip and tyre life which suits me.

well they must have improved them because 3-4 years ago very few owners had much good to say about them! I have been using my So2A's for a few years, and P0's before that, I thought the Pirellis had great dry grip, poor wet grip, and less than sparkling wear rates. The SO2A's have been brilliant all round tyres, could not fault them as a compromise, as all tyres must be. Very pleased that the Conti's are good now. Anyone using anything else rated?

I've got Bridgestones on my turbo as they were on the car when I bought it. I find them a lot noisier than the Contis I had always opted for on my previous Carrera4. I'll be going back to Contis when new ones are needed.
