Tyres

I'm fairly new to Boxster ownership, and will be in the realms of having to replace tyres in the next couple of months. Is anyone able to give me an idea of what costs I should plan for, and also perhaps a favoured make of tyre to go for?

My tyre sizes are:

Front: 235/35/ZR19
Rear: 265/35/ZR19

Thanks for any help/ advice anyone can offer<

Dan.

Just put a set of 265/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sports on the Cayman. Cheapest place I could find was Protyre at £500 the pair. Not yet had to replace the fronts. I've stuck with the Michelins because they came on the car, and I find them an excellent tyre.

Porsche Leeds put me a full set of 19" Bridgestones on 18 months and 14000 mls ago, when they were unable to get hold of Michelins, I find the Bridgestones much better than Michelins that were on when I bought the car, costs are about £200 for the rears & £165 for the fronts. Steve

I think the Bridgestones on my '07 3.4S are excellent. A local supplier (Notts.) charged £350 for a pair of fronts and OPC Nottm. matched my best local quote for rears at £430.

FWIW I bought my '04 S with Pirelli PZero Rossos all round and I think they're great. They've been on 14 months now, including one track day at Brands and one of the instructors for the Ice Hill at Silverstone on Saturday said they looked "quite new"! They seem very resistant to aquaplaning too.

I had a Boxster with the latest Michelin Pilot Sports on 18ins. I now have a Cayman with Pirelli P Zeros on 19ins and the ride is better, not harder as I had expected and quieter. I assume this is tyre related rather than the changed suspension settings. Hence I would not go for Michelins.
