This old question again sorry [X(] My 987 Spyder is sitting on 9 year old boots so told to change them despite having 4ml left all round .
235/35/r19 87Y Michelin PS2 265/35/r19 94Y Michelin PS2 Looking to change to PS4S as this seems the step up .but it seems that you cannot get these in the rears only any one know if available in Porsche rating ?

I don’t think you can get PS4S N0 for either front or back at the moment. you would have to fit the generic version which seems to have wide approval from people who have used it.

Or stay with the PS2N2 which as you have already discovered suits the 987 perfectly.

You can have an interesting debate between the merits of a more modern tyre but in a generic version that has to work on a variety of very different vehicles or the older tyre which has been tuned and modified for your car.

If you have run the car on ps2s for 9 years then I assume you are happy with how they perform. If N rating matters to you (it does to me) then go again.

but questions. Not for one moment suggesting you shouldn’t change them ( and at 9 years I would agree it’s time ) but who said it was time to change and why ?

PS4S only n rated fronts for mine so non n rears for me

drives superbly

jonathan w fitted wider rears which are n rated and seem fine ( I didn’t explore that option)

both 20”

Guys

Thanks for all the info ..its a minefield out there as far as I can see ...I understand PS2 is the recommend one for the car( WILL NOT FIT PZ ) ,but looking at the codes it seems they are not the best rated ie rears are E A 70 whereas the fronts are E B 70 on similar MICHELIN fitments non approved PORSCHE they vary C A 70 so on paper look to be a better tyre .as not using car may well hold off till next year.

I would not be at all concerned about those official wet grip ratings. The PS2N2 suits the 987.2 perfectly and importantly maintains its grip throughout its life, unlike some tyres (Pirelli I’m looking at you) where wry grip vanishes when the tyre is part worn.

Get some new PS2NS and please try to wear them out at bit more quickly!

Is there any difference in appearance on the sidewall of the PS4S N rated on front vs Ps4S Non-N rated you have on the back. Other forums claim the N rating tyres have reinforced side wall?

Thanks,

Ben,

Although there are other differences - unique construction and compound maybe? - I think the N-rated tyres have a rim protector strip.

Jeff
