Hi All you Tech chaps

U581 Car Diagnostic Scanner Error Code Reader

Would you know if this is compatible with Porsche? Porsche say that the interface is an 0BD2. I have a 2003 Boxster S. If not other than going to a Porsche dealer and paying £50 for then to check error codes what other error code reader would you recommend?

Thanks Roy

I am sure it will be compatible, but it will probably only read DME error codes. Why not invest a bit more and get a Durametric? www.durametric.com. This will read and reset fault codes from ALL the control modules.

I've got one and would be happy to give you a demo if you are anywhere near me.

Thanks Richard. Thats very kind of you but I live in Bedfordshire so a bit far to come. I am new to Porsche so just getting to know what I can or cannot do to save a few pounds. The Boxster was my 60 birthday present from my wife who said she had brought me a Hot Tub to wind me up!!!

Best regards

Roy

I've got that reader: basic but it can read and reset basic emission codes thought not ABS. alarm or airbag ones like the durametric.

I know this is a bit cheeky for a first post, but would you be able to give me a demo? I have a 986 Boxster S which has recently had some problems (costing me over £2,000 to fix) and I would be very interested to see what state my car is really in, not what state I'm told it's in. I live in Camberley so am not too far away from Maidenhead.

Hi Richard

Thanks for your advice. I have ordered one from Durametric www.durametric.com. So see how I get on. May need a little guidence to start with! Do you have a list of error codes and descriptions? or know were I can get then from. I have a copy of the Boxster service manual (Bentley Publishers) which gives some codes

Thanks again

Roy
