UK pricing rip off

Just configured my 997 turbo in USA and total came to $138000 ie £69000 .....with all the bits I want...
Are we crazy in UK - thats not that much more than my 3 year old is worth here.

Yep. Prices here are crazy when you compare them across the pond. I find a lot of the time, whether it is cars, electronics or even food, that the prices here are virtually the same numeric value as those in the US, but with the $ simply changed for £.

As mentioned US - UK has a consistency in numeric value in such items, so what is in it for Porsche to set an example by selling it to us at the current US Dollar exchange rate price? Have you checked the prices in India (standard price + 100% luxury tax, so pay double), Aus, South Africa, etc...?

A basic Carrera is:
UK: £58,931
Aus: A$198,100 = £84,031

US & Middle East: $72400 = £35,677

I think mainland Europe should feel ripped off as in Germany the price is: €79,938 = £59,938, so how can a similar car i.e. LHD shipped across the ocean cost much less? [8|]

Yep, Porsche's biggest market is USA, where they sale cars at half the price we pay here, yet they still make a Billion Euros profit each year! Now I wonder who is contributing the most to that profit? At least the high prices here help maintains the exclusivity of owning a Porsche (just trying to convince myself).

The Porsche market here in Australia is very small about 50 Cayman last year ( launched March 06) and mine being one of them, at a cost of $166.000 (72.000stirling)
and not a very high spec. But when the time comes to move it on SH prices are also very high.

What price SH 2 years old US and UK that is the real question ?

Cayman S
Boxster S gone
911 Turbo 930 gone but still missed

I suppose we have to live with it - after all I don't expect any of us current owners would be too pleased if Porsche decided to slash prices 40% tomorrow on all new cars.......
It would be interesting if manaufacturers were compelled to equalise prices worldwide - as they apparently were across Europe some years ago. I suspect prices in US would go up rather than ours drop [][]
