ULEZ battle

Sorry if this is something you already know about from the 986 Facebook group, whom I have been boring tonight.
Transport for London say my 2003 986 3.2S is not ULEZ compliant. They say it isn't Euro4 and therefore non-compliant. They say no more than that.
There are hundreds of identical cars which ARE compliant. I have checked, and I have informed TfL, but to no avail.
I am appealing to all owners of identical 2003 S models to, firstly, let me know if they are ULEZ compliant and, crucially, secondly, let me know the emissions data from their V5C. The identity of the vehicle is not so important as the model and year and data, so anonymised info will do.

If I can build up a database for identical cars I may be able to persuade TfL that they have mis-categorised my car.

All help appreciated!

I'm not trying to hinder your cause, but the 2003 Service Technik would suggest it is EU3. I've attached the section from the Technik.

Hi Chase

The 2003 Boxster S is Euro 3. VRD V.7 = 255g/km, (band K > 225g/km for Road Tax purposes)

The Zones are Euro 4 (2005 onwards)

It was the same in Bath with emissions and wanted £9 a day to drive it

My Lotus is Euro 6 and is 225g/km and is OK and ironically both return the sameish MPG!!!

It's just another 'lets make some more money' out of the private motorist

Mo

I have an Oct 2001 Boxster S.

From V5C:-

V.1 0.613

V.2 0.088

V.3 0.048

V.4 0.136

Not sure if this is what you need.

If not, please advise where I should be looking on the V5C.

Steve

Thanks Chris and Steve. Useful to know, but I'm looking for just MY 2003 so I have identical cars to put before TfL.

Richard, thanks for the technical stuff. I appreciate the car is EURO3, not 4, but there are hundreds of EURO3 cars like mine passed as compliant, so it cannot be just based on that. I suspect it is based on early adopting quality manufacturers, whose numbers meet or beat the EURO4 criteria but that that test has somehow been forgotten or modified.

In short, while there are other cars identical to mine not having to pay, I shall keep on asking them why, until I either get a sensible answer or the position is put right.

And thanks, too, Mo.

TfL have cancelled the PCN (for ULEZ) which must mean they accept the car is ULEZ compliant. The letter doesnt say that though, and the vehicle checker still shows it as non-compliant. I have asked for confirmation of the situation.

This seems to be an old thread revived, but you might find the details in a similar thread in the 996 forum useful. https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/FindPost/1137728 You'll find details there on how to to check if a car is exempt from ULEZ & other Clean air zone changes, & how to request a certificate of conformity(CoC) from Porsche if the details DVLA hold for your car are incorrect or incomplete. The CoC will be an official record of the emissions for your car, & can be shared with DVLA & TFL to have them update their records to reflect the correct info. If your car meets the requirements, then TFL will give you exemptions for London ULEZ & DVLA for other Clean air zones across the UK.

All 986 / 996 and younger Porsches should be ULEZ compliant.

For petrol cars it's the NOx emission level that determines ULEZ compliance and the car must emit no more than 80mg/km.

The NOx is stated on the V5C (log book / registration document) for 986 / 996 onwards and if the TFL web site checker shows your car as non-compliant then TFL will update their database if you send them a copy of the V5 showing the compliant NOx emission.

Had this for our 2001 986 when ULEZ originally commenced.

Hope this helps.
