Ullapool 1st-3rd September

I am going on a run with a few porsche-owning friends for a couple of days driving through some of the stunning highland scenery. The proposal is simply:
Friday 1st September, 10am - meet at Duck Bay by the sides of Loch Lomond
Sunday 3rd September, approx 5pm - return to the Glasgow area

In between we will spend 2 nights in this hotel: http://www.harbour-lights.co.uk

If anyone wants to join us feel free to simply call the hotel and book a room, or contact me and I will see if anyone has dropped out and you can claim their room. All Welcome!!

The basic outline of events would be:
Friday - drive up the A82, through GlenCoe, Fort William then onwards towards Eilean Donan Castle. Lunch. Then onwards and follow much of the Wester-Ross Coastal Trail working our way towards Ullapool for late afternoon/early evening.
Friday evening - eat, drink and be merry.
Saturday - gentle drive further north, stop for lunch then back to ullapool.
Saturday evening - food, drink etc.
Sunday - make our way down an alternate route down the side of Loch Ness to lunch in Fort Augustus. Then onwards to home.

Anyone wishing more information, or to let me know you've booked contact me at r1@porscheclubgb.com

If you don't mind a Cayenne joining in we would meet up Friday with you, do you plan to go over the Applecross Pass its a brillant run and then up the coast road to Ullapool?

Applecross pass is definitely on the list of possibles (depends a bit on timing and weather on the day)...you're more than welcome in the Cayenne Nick. In fact anyone can come and drive anything - a former RO is rumored to be coming in a Skoda!!

Well what can I say but what a fantastic weekend I had, and I am sure that everyone else did too.

Nick it was great to meet you and Julie, and your new car is absolutely lovely![;)]

Greig thanks for organising it [;)]

Would be really interested in more information about the route you took (and pics if you have them). Myself and another PCGB (and fellow DDK member) are looking to organise a long weekend Scottish tour in May '07 for a bunch of other DDK's and would be interested in any suggestion of good routes.

The route was pretty much the same as this one:

If you stick to the north west of Scotland, you can hardly go wrong anyway. There aren't that many roads, and they are pretty much all excellent. If you really want the very best roads the UK has to offer, go north of Ullapool, the roads there are utterly fabulous.

It's a long journey to get there though! [;)]

Look at our route that we have just completed. Everyone enjoyed it very much. You could start at Glencoe rather than Dumfries as that start point was to give the English guys a shorter journey into Scotland on their first day.

Thanks guys for all the ideas on Scottish routes. Will keep you posted on what we decide.
