Ultimate fuel

Guest

New member
I was out on Sunday and needed to fill the car with fuel.

I stopped at a BP garage and filled up with their new super unleaded fuel: Ultimate. It is rocket fuel! Noticeably more power and smoother than the Optimax I have been using.

Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, I've tried it but did not immediately notice a huge difference, but then I wasn't really trying.

I'll now use this as an excuse to go out and try!

Surely a placebo effect. I understand that the BP fuel is 97% vs Optimax 98% so I cannot imagine that something similar (inferior) will feel so different.

I believe the octain rating can be slightly mis leading due to how the number is arrived at. The ultimate apparently works well in the higher rev range (by that i mean >2000rpm) which is prob where most people have there engines runnig at.
No indipendant test have really been conducted as far as i can see, so until then its a case of which ever is closer and cheaper.
