Torsen diff from scrapped Audi V8 can be adapted to work in our gearboxes apparently. Don't know if this has been covered before but looky here;

Could be a cheap upgrade for trackdayers

Yep, even the modern Audi's use a very similar gearbox to ours in terms of configuration. A mate of mine at work is dropping a V8 from a few yr old A8 into his Audi 80 Quattro and it all bolts up perfectly with no mods. Apparently the gearbox in an Audi 80 is virtually identical to an S2 gearbox.

My feelings as well. I have found a torsen diff from an old Audi on the web for 50 quid, it looks like it could be adapted for use in a 944. For all sorts of reasons I want a plate type LSD with pretty high deceleration locking factor, perhaps 80%, but less acceleration locking factor, perhaps 40% to 60%. As usual I have been doing background research and just happened across this potential upgrade route that could be ideal for those that do the occasional trackday or do sprints/hillclimbs where the torsen could be ideal.

I have been looking for a torsen diff for my S2 because I do hillclimbs/sprints and it will suite my needs more. Thank you for the tip about the Audi ones I shall look into it.

Thanks Peter, I think for someone who can do and get a lot of the work done of their own back it will be way cheaper then buying a quaiffe unit. I would imagine a local machine shop wouldn't charge much to do the mods described in that thread.
