I have a query. On a late 944 with no direct mechanical hatch mechanism, when using the under bonnet +12v terminal (and a convenient engine-bay earth point for the -12v connection) to open the rear hatch, does there still need to be a battery fitted in the boot to complete the circuit?
I would like to remove the battery entirely for one of (possibly both) the 944s over winter. Previously I have kept the car in a running state and have not had cause to use the terminal.
n.b. Before someone suggests it, keeping the car on a trickle charger or battery conditioner isn't an option.
