Hi

Could someone email me a picture of a 993 with the bonnet up please, curious to see how much or little room there is under the hood compaired with a 996.

Thanks

Karl

I think there is slightly less room in the C4, so you really need pictures of both C2 and C4 models.

All 993 have the same size;

Id say room for two medium suitcase and a couple of suit carriers laid across the top!

John

Short of space load all corners under the lid with softly packed Tesco bags (my Ive got class)[;)]

found it works almost as well with Asda bags[:D]

So how does that compare with a 996?
I've seen under the hood of a 997 and was surprised how confined it is.

My 996 you can get a cool box in & a bag or 2 as the front space is quite deep
only prob is you cant get anything longer in

I disagree about them all being the same size, my understanding is that C2 models have a storage capacity of about 125 litres and the C4 models have less space to accomodate the front differential and different brake reservoir reducing capacity to nearer 100 litres.

I'd heard this too (although not the detail of the numbers) - but I've just had a look at the parts list and (ignoring colour) the carpet for the front boot has only 4 different part numbers: For the two available fuel tank sizes and for with, or without, CD changer.

I think if the C4 was significantly different in size it would change the carpet shape?

Next time I'm parked next to a C2 I'll do a comparison!

Well the carpet is the same for both but I know what you are saying! I think that the parts you mention dont affect the main area, more the top and back of the boot, I guess you could squash bag in there easily enough. The photo is of a turbo, which must have the smallest area!

My 993 C2 is quite commodious. All our alpine gear, boots, sticks, back sacks, wet gear, suit sacks and outer coats fit a treat. Three soft bags on the rear seat shelf take all the other clobber for a civilised stay of two to three weeks. Now you have started something, the urge to get the car out and head east for another mountain fix. Caution! I have no winter tyres and the snows have arrived at 2500 metres. Pour another schnaps and wait till late spring I guess.
